The Lord's Prayer - Fulfilled in Christ

"Our Father"

Jesus is very God. “I and my Father are One” John 10:30.

“Which art in heaven”

Being God He was in heaven, even as He walked the earth. “And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but He that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven” John 3:13.

“Hallowed be Thy name”

“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name:” Phil. 2:9.

“Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven”

“That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth” Phil 2:10.

“Thy kingdom come”

“Until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: Which in His times He shall show, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords” I Tim. 6:14,15.

“Give us this day our daily bread”

“And Jesus said unto them, I AM the bread of Life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on Me shall never thirst” John 6:35.

“And forgive us our debts”

“I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven for His name’s sake” I John 2:12. “Jesus. . .said unto the sick of the palsy. . .thy sins be forgiven thee” Matt. 9:2. “And He said unto her, thy sins are forgiven. And they that sat at meat with Him began to say within themselves, Who is this thatforgiveth sins? Luke 7:49.

“And lead us not into temptation”

“For in that He himself hath suffered being tempted, He is able to succour them that are tempted” Heb. 2:18.

“But deliver us from evil”

“So He [the Lord] was their Savior. In all their affliction He was afflicted, and the Angel of His Presencesaved them: in His love and in His pity He redeemed them; and He bare them, and carried them” Isaiah 63:8,9. Compare Isaiah 53:4.

“For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever”

“And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of His Christ; and He shall reign forever and ever” Rev. 11:15.

“Amen”

“These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God” Rev. 3:14.
